New Release: SEAQUEST Curriculum for Teachers
One of the key objectives of the SEAQUEST project is to integrate seagrass literacy into primary education through an innovative, future-oriented Educational Toolkit that combines in-class, outdoor, and technology-driven learning experiences for primary school children.
We’re pleased to announce that the first component of the Educational Toolkit is now available. The SEAQUEST Curriculum for Teachers provides educators with essential information about the value of seagrass to the environment and people, as well as the importance of seagrass conservation and literacy promotion.
What’s Included
The curriculum is divided into two main parts:
Part 1: Theoretical Framework
This section introduces key concepts related to:
- Ocean conservation and the sustainable use of ocean resources
- Seagrass biology, ecosystem functions, services, loss, and conservation
- The ocean literacy movement
- The need to promote seagrass literacy
Part 2: Teacher’s Curriculum
This section provides a comprehensive analysis of the curriculum, including:
- Aims and objectives
- Pedagogical approaches
- Competencies
- Assessment strategies and tools
- Seven thematic modules developed from desk and field research conducted during the SEAQUEST project
